Overview:

On 11 April 2025, SayPro, in collaboration with the Gauteng Department of Social Development, successfully facilitated a Youth Mobilization session with three young participants. This initiative forms part of SayPro’s broader strategy to engage, inspire, and empower youth across the province through meaningful dialogue, information sharing, and community engagement opportunities.

Objectives of the Activity:

• To raise awareness among youth about available social development programmes and services.
• To encourage active participation in community-based initiatives and positive peer leadership.
• To connect youth with relevant developmental, educational, and social support resources.

Session Highlights:

The youth mobilization session included the following elements:

1. Introduction to SayPro and Social Development Services
   • Overview of youth-targeted programmes including life skills, education support, career guidance, and wellness services.
2. Discussion on Youth Challenges and Opportunities
   • Open dialogue about issues affecting youth today, such as unemployment, mental health, substance abuse, and peer pressure.
   • Sharing of real-life stories and encouragement to support one another.
3. Motivation and Empowerment
   • Facilitated activities to boost confidence and leadership.
   • Sharing of inspirational messages to motivate youth to stay engaged in their communities.
4. Referral and Support Guidance
   • Participants were informed about how to access support services through SayPro and the Department of Social Development.
   • Individual needs assessments were initiated where necessary.

Impact:

Although the session catered to a small group of three, the intimate setting allowed for deep engagement, active listening, and tailored encouragement. The youth expressed appreciation for the information and felt more connected to both SayPro and the broader support system.

The mobilization effort helped reinforce the importance of youth involvement in shaping their futures and contributing positively to their communities.
