SayPro Life Skills Programme – 20 March 2025
On 20 March 2025, SayPro conducted a focused Life Skills training session aimed at equipping young individuals with essential personal and interpersonal skills. This programme was delivered in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Social Development, as part of a joint effort to support youth empowerment and sustainable personal development.
Programme Overview:

Objectives:
- Personal Development: To help participants build self-awareness, confidence, and a positive mindset.
- Decision-Making Skills: To strengthen problem-solving abilities and responsible decision-making.
- Communication Skills: To improve verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, and conflict resolution.
- Coping Mechanisms: To equip youth with stress management techniques and resilience-building strategies.
- Goal Setting: To guide participants in setting realistic personal, educational, and career goals.
- Social Responsibility: To foster a sense of accountability and social engagement.
Key Components of the Life Skills Session:
- Introduction & Ice-Breakers: Facilitators introduced participants to the programme, followed by interactive ice-breakers to create a comfortable learning environment.
- Self-Awareness & Emotional Intelligence Workshop: Activities designed to help participants understand their emotions, strengths, weaknesses, and how to manage them effectively.
- Effective Communication Module: Practical exercises on assertive communication, active listening, and non-violent conflict resolution.
- Decision-Making & Problem-Solving Training: Tools and frameworks were shared to assist participants in making informed decisions in their daily lives.
- Stress Management & Resilience Building: Techniques such as breathing exercises, positive thinking, and healthy coping strategies were introduced.
- Goal Setting & Planning Session: Each participant was assisted in outlining short-term and long-term goals, along with actionable steps to achieve them.
- Resource Sharing: The Gauteng Department of Social Development provided information on support services and additional resources available to the participants.
- Feedback & Closing Remarks: Participants shared reflections on what they learned, and facilitators collected feedback for programme improvement.
Outcomes:
- All three participants reported improved self-confidence and self-awareness.
- Participants demonstrated enhanced communication and decision-making skills during practical exercises.
- Each individual developed a personal action plan focusing on their future goals.
- Increased awareness of available support systems and services provided by the Gauteng Department of Social Development.
