SayPro Performance Video

For participants who are unable to attend the SayPro Development Quarterly Pre-School Singing Competition in person, or for those opting to submit a pre-recorded performance, SayPro offers the opportunity to submit a Performance Video. This video submission option allows children to showcase their song selection and performance style remotely, ensuring inclusivity for all participants, regardless of geographical location or logistical challenges.

The Performance Video is also an important part of the judging process, as it allows judges to assess the child’s singing abilities, creativity, and stage presence.

Video Submission Requirements

To ensure that all video submissions are consistent, fair, and meet the event’s technical standards, participants must adhere to the following guidelines:

1. Video Content

Video Duration:

The video should show the child performing the song in its entirety (typically 1-3 minutes).
The performance should be uninterrupted, with no breaks, excessive pauses, or edits.
Performance Style:

The video can either be a full performance (child singing the song from start to finish) or a short practice clip that clearly demonstrates the child’s vocal abilities and engagement with the song.
Parents/guardians should ensure the video accurately reflects the child’s final performance, including any actions or gestures that will be part of the live competition (e.g., dancing, clapping, or acting out the song).

2. Video Quality

Video Format:

Accepted video formats include MP4, MOV, or AVI.
Videos should be high enough quality that both audio and visuals are clear, especially when capturing the child’s voice and facial expressions.
Lighting and Sound:

The video should be filmed in a well-lit area to ensure the child’s face and actions are clearly visible.
The child’s voice should be easily audible without distortion or excessive background noise. If possible, avoid loud ambient sounds, music, or disruptions that could interfere with the song’s clarity.
Camera Angle:

The camera should be positioned at eye level or slightly above the child, ensuring the child’s face, upper body, and hands (if part of the performance) are visible.
Ensure the camera is stable and focused throughout the performance.

3. Background and Setting

Neutral Background:

Ideally, the child should be filmed against a simple, uncluttered background (e.g., a plain wall, or a soft, non-distracting backdrop) to keep the focus on the performance.
Avoid background elements that may distract the viewer from the child’s singing or actions (e.g., excessive clutter, moving objects, or distractions).
Appropriate Environment:

Ensure the performance is filmed in a safe environment, free from hazards.
If the child plans to use props or costumes, make sure they are visible and not overwhelming.

4. Video Submission Process

Uploading the Video:

Videos must be uploaded to the SayPro platform or emailed via a secure file-sharing service (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.).
Parents/guardians will receive a submission link with instructions on how to upload the video securely.
Ensure the video is uploaded before the deadline provided in the registration pack or event guidelines.
Naming the Video:

The video file should be named in the following format:

\[Child’s Name]\[Song Title]\[Age Group].
Example: JohnDoe\_TwinkleTwinkle\_4YearsOld.mp4.

5. Optional Video Enhancements

While not required, parents and guardians are welcome to make the video more engaging by including the following:

Creative Introductions:

Before starting the performance, the child may briefly introduce themselves and the song. Example: “Hi, my name is Emily, and I’m going to sing ‘The Wheels on the Bus!’”
Visual Effects or Props:

If the performance includes props (such as costumes, puppets, or musical instruments), parents can ensure these are visible in the video.
Simple background music or accompaniment is allowed, as long as it doesn’t overpower the child’s voice.

6. Video Review and Feedback

Initial Review:

Once submitted, the video will be reviewed by SayPro staff to ensure it meets the technical and content guidelines.
If the video doesn’t meet the standards (e.g., poor audio quality or inappropriate background), the family will be contacted and asked to resubmit a corrected version before the final deadline.
Judging:

Videos will be shared with the competition judges, who will assess the child’s vocal clarity, creativity, expression, and overall engagement.
The judges will also consider the video’s ability to reflect the spirit of the competition, emphasizing fun, educational value, and personal expression.

Why Video Submissions Are Important

The Performance Video serves as an alternative for those unable to participate in person, but it is also an essential component in assessing each child’s individual performance. Submitting a video allows SayPro to:

Ensure fair judging for both in-person and virtual participants,
Document each performance for future reference or promotional purposes (with appropriate permissions),
Provide a platform for creativity, allowing children to practice and perform in an environment they’re comfortable with.
