SayPro 01 January 17 | SCDR-3-45 | Development Quarterly Cultural Singing Competition

As part of the initial selection process for the SayPro Cultural Singing Competition, participants may be required to submit an audio or video recordingof their performance. These submissions help the judging panel conduct a fair and thorough preliminary screening and determine which entries will proceed to the final live or featured rounds.

Purpose of the Preliminary Submission:

To ensure that all performances meet the event’s cultural and artistic standards
To manage the number of participants proceeding to the final stage
To assess the authenticity, vocal ability, and interpretive quality of the performance
To verify that the song selected aligns with the competition’s focus on cultural heritage

📤 Submission Requirements

1. Format Options:

Video Format (Preferred):

Accepted file types: `.mp4`, `.mov`, `.avi`, `.mkv`
Resolution: Minimum 720p (1280×720); HD preferred
File size: Maximum 500MB
Duration: 2 to 5 minutes
The performer must be clearly visible throughout the performance

Audio Format (Optional):

Accepted file types: `.mp3`, `.wav`, `.m4a`
Quality: Minimum 128 kbps bitrate
Must be a live, unedited recording (no vocal enhancements or auto-tuning)
If submitting audio, include a clear photo or short written bio to accompany it

2. Performance Guidelines:

Perform the same songthat will be used in the final competition (if selected)
Performers should wear culturally relevant attire(if available), or dress appropriately for a formal presentation
Backing tracks, live instruments, or a cappella performances are all acceptable
The recording must be one continuous take—no cuts, edits, or post-production enhancements

3. Submission Information:

Each submission must be accompanied by the following:

Completed SayPro Registration Form
Completed SayPro Song & Performance Detailsdocument
A short introduction in the video (optional but encouraged)where the performer says their name, the title of the song, and its cultural origin
Optional: English translation or summary of the lyricsif the song is in another language

Upload your file to a file-sharing platform (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer)
Ensure sharing permissions are set to “Anyone with the link can view”

4. Submission Deadline:

🕓 All audio/video submissions must be received by \[Insert Deadline Date].
Late submissions may not be considered unless prior arrangements have been approved by the SayPro organizing committee.

⚖️ Evaluation Criteria for Preliminary Round:

Submissions will be reviewed and scored by the SayPro judging panel based on the following:

Vocal Ability– Pitch, tone, control, and clarity
Interpretation– Emotional connection, phrasing, and storytelling
Cultural Authenticity– Faithfulness to the tradition, use of language, attire, or performance style
Overall Presentation– Professionalism, confidence, and presence (even in a recorded setting)

All submissions will be used solely for judging and internal review unless explicit permission is given for promotional use.
