Objective
To help eSports participants develop the psychological resilience, focus, and stress management skills needed to perform consistently at a high level. The Mental and Physical Health Coach will lead daily mental conditioning sessions, equipping players with tools to stay calm under pressure, enhance concentration, and develop a competitive mindset rooted in discipline, confidence, and mental well-being.
Core Responsibilities
1. Lead Daily Mental Conditioning Sessions
Start each day with short guided sessions focused on preparing the mind for competitive play.
Use practical techniques rooted in sports psychology to:
Improve focus and cognitive control.
Reduce anxiety and mental fatigue.
Increase mental clarity and reaction time.
Examples of techniques:
Visualization & Mental Rehearsal Helping players mentally simulate perfect plays and high-stakes scenarios before matches.
Mindfulness Training Guided breathing, meditation, and body awareness exercises to calm nerves and reset focus.
Positive Self-Talk & Affirmations Training players to replace self-doubt with reinforcing, goal-oriented inner dialogue.
2. Teach Emotional Regulation & Stress Management
Provide coping strategies for common performance challenges such as:
Tilt (emotional outbursts during games)
Burnout from repetitive practice
Performance anxiety during scrims or tournaments
Introduce frameworks such as:
The RESET Method Recognize → Exhale → Set intention → Execute → Track
Cognitive Reframing Turning negative thoughts into productive, neutral responses.
3. Develop Personal Pre-Match Routines
Help each participant build a consistent mental warm-up routine tailored to their needs.
Examples include stretching, breathing exercises, music playlists, journaling goals.
Encourage team-wide rituals to unify mindset and boost morale before matches.
4. Enhance Focus and Flow States
Introduce concentration drills and focus games to help players stay mentally sharp.
Teach players how to identify their “flow zone” and create conditions that support extended performance focus.
Reinforce the importance of minimizing distractions during play (e.g., managing multitasking, screen fatigue, over-communication).
5. Support Mental Recovery & Reflection
Guide end-of-day reflections on emotional performance, mental effort, and stress management.
Encourage journaling or sharing about:
Moments of stress and how they were handled.
High-performance states and what triggered them.
Lessons learned from mental lapses or distractions.
